Dragons return to private ownership from WRU control

 

Dragons will now go back to private ownership after take over deal.

They were the only region to be owned by the Welsh Rugby Union.

The new deal will allow Dragons RFC to back ownership with a six year deal, they will take back ownership of Rodney Parade which is the home of Dragons RFC.

Chairman David Buttress was delighted with the deal.

Buttress said

"This is momentous day in our clubs history and start of a exciting new chapter for us all at Rodney Parade and for Rugby right across Gwent,"

 "Our ambition id aligned with our supporters, and we will continue to build a true family club and work with stakeholders  to help deliver a professional sport and sustain long term growth for the area."

Newport Gwent Dragons was built as a top tier club to regions 20 years ago. How time flies and as of today let face it the regions still not worked out as planned, it would be good to hear other peoples opinions on this matter in the comments below.

  The WRU had to step in as of summer 2017 as the region went the financial difficulties.
